Start with the pallet load

The correct pallet wrap depends on load weight, sharp edges, pallet height, product movement, storage conditions and transport distance. A stable uniform load has different requirements from an irregular load with projecting corners.

Hand wrap or machine wrap?

Hand pallet wrap is applied manually and is suited to lower-volume operations or variable loads. Machine pallet wrap is designed for wrapping equipment and must match the machine’s pre-stretch system, settings and roll dimensions.

Important selection factors

• Width and roll length: must suit the wrapping method and equipment.
• Micron: affects film mass but does not describe total performance on its own.
• Stretch: the film must stretch consistently without excessive breaks.
• Puncture resistance: important for irregular or sharp-edged loads.
• Cling: helps successive film layers hold together.
• Load retention: helps keep the pallet stable during storage and transport.
• Colour: clear, black and coloured options can serve visibility, concealment or identification requirements.
